My Papa

Remember me when im gone
this was the last thing he said
as he laid there in his lumpy hospital bed

My Papa was there for me
from the minute I was born
and continued to support me throughout my life

from my first bike ride
to my first writing contest
I could always count on him
to be my biggest fan

When I was going on ten
he was diagnosed with cancer
and the doctor said he wouldnt live
he fought it for months
and woke up at five in the morning every day
but he didnt make it

he gave me the most important lesson
that no one else ever can
Live your life to the fullest
and never let it get you down
because life is to short to take for granted.
