My Own Wings

Just out there beyond the evening
over hills I used to know
there are reasons for believing
things we dreamed of long ago

Seal your azure love around me
kiss my eyes that I may see
who it is who finally found me
did you come to set me free?

  are these wings fledged out
for flying?
are these breezes strong and true?
Am I ready for the trying?
come and show me what to do.

  Navigate the generations
spinning backwards
through the years
flying past the stings of winter
reabsorbing all my tears

  Origami folded brightly
fitted close along my spine
paper wings I'm trying nightly
'till I truely make them mine.
