My Own Betrayal

It slowly creeps up my spine
and wraps its arm around my throat
pressing its shining blade
into my skin, drawing nothing but a single droplet of blood

This is for all the blood I've poured
The tears i've cried
The hearts i've managed to break
And all the nights I spent lying awake

For all the trauma i've survived
All the lies shoved down my throat
All the tears i've cried
That have caused me to choke

It's all because
I couldn't let go
I held on,
Until there was no rope
I have nothing to wrap my hands around
And this time,

I'm The One That's Going Down.

This was quite a powerful poem. I read it several times. This sounds like a confessional poem. Perhaps now you will be at peace and can perhaps sleep.
