My Ocean
Do you know my ocean?
That rages deep inside
Or the swirling of my currents
And my ever-changing tide
Have you heard the waves,
That crash within my mind.
The storms that leave me broken
And the sprays that sting my eyes.
Didn’t you know that saltwater
Flows within my veins?
And the very beating of my heart
Hath the strength of hurricanes.
My eyes may hold the Arctic,
Or the volcanoes of the deep.
For the range of my emotions
Are more than the seas can keep .
How can you know my ocean?
If you haven’t swum below,
The surface of my waters
Where light no longer shows.
Yes, I hold the ocean
Within this mortal flesh
There is a current for my soul
And a storm in place, of breath
