My Muse

I’m staring at my notebook
Whose pages I’ve perused
To double-check a topic;
My muse is quite bemused.

For lately I’ve been empty
Where always I’ve enthused.
I don’t know why poetic themes
Have slowed and barely oozed.

My confidence is sagging;
My ego’s slightly bruised.
I need a jolt of energy
To somehow be infused.

But meanwhile as I struggle,
Where once I blithely cruised,
My muse just sits there mocking
And I’m really not amused.

Liked how this is all over the place in rhythm. You held it together well. The last line is a bit weak though I think. Always love how you have such original styles. Creative and with strong references with wonderful words and wording. A pleasure and learning experience. Thanks Trevor

cute and clever as ever, Ilene. Don't worry. Something will appear in the news,maybe about Trump, and you will be right back in the saddle again!

You sure amused me with your words Ilene, I know my muse has been like a temperamental teenager lately and I think our muses are on cruises - so we should meet up together and maybe they will be tempted out of holiday mode!:-) hugs Jan xx

Your poems are always cleverly written and delivered. Apparently you did this all by yourself while she sits aloof and mocking. We can all relate to this, we've all been temporarily abandoned. My muse is a brat because she loves to return while I'm driving, bathing or in any other way preoccupied without pen or paper. A joy to read! All the best ... CayCay
