My Mistake
Sitting here puzzled and lost.
I looked down and had one more shot.
Feelings of quilt and shame set in.
Sad and alone here I sit.
No one understood who I was.
Looking through my glass
Felt like my world had collapsed.
Couldn’t believe what I had done.
How I had hurt them bad.
Now there’re alone in a world so mean.
And I through them out on the streets.
Can I ever be forgiving?
For the many things I’ve done.
The bar tender reached over to pour another one.
Grabbing his hand she said, “not today!”
I have a secret to convey.
I left my children on that cold rainy day.
As I turned and walked away.
