My Lover And Best Friend
Innocence surrounds you in life:
yet you're as sharp as any knife.
And your love's magical effect:
polishes dreams dimmed by neglect.
When doubt breaches my inner walls,
your compassion cushions my falls.
And restoring lost hope and pride,
you put confidence in my stride.
Your smile melts sadness from within,
allowing my smile to begin.
And your faith in me pulls me through:
without your help, what would I do?
You're forgiving, patient, and kind:
virtues that aren't easy to find.
And that extraordinary blend
makes you my lover and best friend.
