My Love For Jesus

MY LOVE FOR JESUS

I want my love for Jesus to be more than what I say,
I want my love for Jesus to be how I live each day.
I want my love for Jesus to show to others there
Through my love and compassion and by my earnest prayer.
I want my love for Jesus to show how I obey
Commands He gave to live by through every passing day.
I want my love for Jesus to be more than I declare,
For words don’t have a meaning if love I do not share.
When Jesus said He loved me, He didn’t just words say,
But gave His life so fully through how He lived each day.
And then when He faced Calvary, He took my guilt and sin
Upon His sinless body so I could be cleansed within.
So my love now for Jesus must go beyond the word,
For people will not know it by just what they have heard.
What Jesus asks now of me to show I love Him true
Is not something so grievous that I just cannot do.
I want my love for Jesus to be not just that day
When I kneel before Him in heaven then to say.
Though my love will be perfect when Him in heaven view,
I still can show I love Him by things that now I do.
For if now in this body I do not show my love,
I’ll face Him in such sorrow when I am there above.
So now as His sweet Spirit speaks to me once again,
I want my love for Jesus to be better than it’s been.
May my love now for Jesus be love that here will show
In more than words I utter wherever I may go.

Meaningful and prayer-like. I like your poem, Clarence. It echoes the desire I have to love Jesus more and to show it by how I live my life. Blessings, Kim
