My Life Lesson

My Life lesson

Looking back in time
Is not always the best thing to do
But the past has shaped who I am
And helped me learn a thing or two

I have learned so many things
Some are good and some not great
But I think what I learned the best
Is the ability not to hate

I wasted lots of valuable time
Hating because of the pain
Inflicted by uncaring thought
I hurt yes, but they remained the same

Finally the truth was shown
The misery just mine to claim
So I got down on my knees
And prayed to God in his Name

I asked Him to forgive me
And to please let me see the light
And he answered me with wisdom
To see what is wrong and what is right

Hate only hurts the hater
Was the lesson that I learned
So no more will I ever hate
It was only me that had gotten burned
