My Letter
My Letter
I never thought, but gee, I guess
I’d like to be the letter S
From head to toe a shapely curve
The kind that all the boys observe
But NO, that letter’s for a dame
I ain’t a dame, check out my name
As a guy what would I be
What letter is the real me
If we’re in CAPs, it’s not a T
Big broad shoulders, that’s not me
Still in CAPs, the letter D
No, that shape does not flatter me
In CAPs, the three pronged letter E
Whatever could that mid-prong be
And ain’t no way I’d be a P
That’s another girl’s to me
In CAPs, an A, that dunce cap shape
The pointed laughs I’d not escape
Let’s drop the CAPs they’re not for me
Whatever should my letter be
Why I could be an “i I bet
Not too tall or heavy set
Topped off by a dot I’d get
I’d be a vowel, that’s better yet
I’d be used so many times
I’d even have a sound that rhymes
And as a poet I would guess
And ‘i is better than an S
But truth be told, I’d rather see
A shapely S than an ‘i like me
