My Least Favorite Things

Masks below noses and slush that turns icy.
Sharp thorns on roses and food that’s too spicy.
Waits for vaccines - the frustration it brings -
These are among my least favorite things.

Ted Cruz escaping while Texans are freezing.
Smoking and vaping and coughing and sneezing.
Ex-politicians who think they are kings -
These are among my least favorite things.

Cameras on Zoom that reveal every wrinkle.
Soggy French fries cut to needlessly crinkle.
Skeeters that itch you and bees giving stings -
These are among my least favorite things.

When the sun shines, when the snow melts,
When I’m feeling glad,
I simply remember my least favorite things
And man, I start feeling mad!

Say it! Preach it! "Ex-politicians who think they are kings - These are among my least favorite things. "That is truly my most UNFAVORITE THING. Loved it that I started singing in mid sentence of line three.

I like. Well done. I like that you went with least favorite and not favorite. Puts a twist on it. I did one to a song once called does your nose run slow. A take on do your ears hang low. It's hard to do but you did a great job Ilene. The metering is perfect! And the jingle was one of my favorite things. LOL Trevor

Excellent rewrite of the original tune, Ilene! I was singing along and the lyrics fit perfectly. I hadn't even considered what it was like to have a damp face mask freeze like that! After winter swimming lessons in NJ, our hair would freeze. We should trade places if you like warmth in the winter. Best wishes, Carolyn

I don’t know, it reminded me of a song I heard once. Seriously though, great little poem and now that I think about it those things are annoying. John
