My Last Request
The efforts made of this dying man
Seem vain, at best, indeed
For still I thirst, I hunger more
I cannot stop, I bleed
I feel I’m fading ever fast
Into the darkness, strong
I yearn to wander in the light
Of which, I do belong
Oh, gracious sun and present moon
Shine light upon my brow
Do guide me back from death I ask
Please let me live somehow
My request is simple, yet complex
Just give me some more light
I do not wish to die this day
Nor, during this cold night
