My Kindred Soul

There is an incredible man I know Who means so much to me We share a deep connection A bond unknown to many It all began when we were kids Though neither realized The effect it would have on both of us Into our adult lives One smile, one touch, two souls collided Those butterflies turned to sparks Attraction turned into first love In that little town's Police park Summer nights, snowball fights Sweet kisses under the moon Two carefree hearts were intertwined When tragedy struck too soon One fateful day, that boy's life changed When death, it claimed his mother How on earth was that young boy Supposed to live without her? Forced to cope, he grew up fast Surrounded by family I hoped and prayed he'd find his way On my mind, he weighed heavily For over the years I wondered If he found means to soothe his pain And if that loss had strengthened him Though grief would still remain My heart still ached with longing Each time I thought of him Until one day I saw those eyes And our hearts joined once again Thankfully, I saw he became A strong and compassionate man Today his sorrows comfort those In ways no others can I admire his resiliency And his tenderness of heart How blessed I am to feel his love Just like from the very start For the gift of time on earth is precious We know not the hour, nor the day And if one of us should leave this world I know as kindred souls, we'll stay
