My Insomnia Wins Round 1

Wow what a trip that was, nearly 14 hrs on a drug fulled buzz, gawd, I remember trips like this when I was younger, only difference, I came down a lot harder. Alrighty!!! Last night was night one on my new meds, doc reckoned take half to start with before I go to bed, so I took my half, half an hour went by, Nothing??? I was still awake and alive. So me being me figured well, i"m going to be on one in another day anyway, so I took the other half, up stairs, on my bed I went to lay. Within the next hour, my son wanted a toast, feeling a little bit drowsy, down stairs I went to make, 10 minutes later my girlfriend comes down, sees me sitting at the table chewing like a cow. Slowly swaying to and fro, trying to chew a piece of toast, bits falling out my mouth, almost asleep nodding in and out, then I went to the bathroom to look at my eyes, my pupils where moving in and out to my surprise. So off the bed I went, within 10 minutes I was asleep, that was until 2 o'clock this morning when I woke, sedative I thought, what a joke. For the next 5 hrs I had broken sleep, every hour waking up which really annoyed me, finally got up at 7 in the foulest mood, sleep deprived again, my insomnia, nothing I can do. But this is early days I hope for the best, might need a little adjustment I guess, being wasted for 14 hrs wasn't much fun, I guess my insomnia wins round 1. M.Mahauariki © 2012

It is exciting to see the replenishment of new poetry here everyday when I log on. I enjoy the diverse poetry so I am never bored by most of what I read. I am happy to have read your poetry this morning Murray. I hope that you might be able to find the time to read some of the other poetry here also. Love, Carol
