My Hope
MY HOPE
T’is just as the apostles testified
Most miserable I will be of men
If my hope in Christ ends here on earth
To this I also testify thus;
I looked around to see the world
So many pleasures, so many gains
So many titles and heights to attain
These and more I found in the world.
But then I sought to see the duration
Of these many many pleasures
And see what these titles could grant me
And I was disappointed; it was a waste.
The pleasures were never satisfying
The titles in their peak were not gratifying
It was really a waste of time
For these distracted me from the Truth of Life.
And then I sought eternity
The pleasures that lasts everlastingly
The titles eternally gratifying
And on the way I met the Lord
The One who inhabits eternity.
He said to me ‘Come to Me
Come fellowship in My love and suffering
And have a full life in Me
In this life and hereafter’
So I forsook all my worldly pleasures
And cast my achievements behind me
And followed humbly and obediently,
Him who alone gives life eternally.
So my hope in Him is this
That though I be the least of men
As long as I follow Him as a Lamb
The last shall surely be the first
And I’ll share in the wonderment
Of His life, glory and joy eternal
