My Hometown
Oh, quiet village by dark, thick foliage
shielded by trees all through the ages,
to you I return within my memory
from this strange land so far away.
I yearn for the wild fields I used to roam,
to climb rolling slopes at break of dawn,
where tiny creatures play on tiny boughs -
how I miss you, my old hometown.
O'er the ocean, mighty gale, carry me
back where my true love waits for me;
take me again to that familiar harbor
so I will be lonely no more.
There I go where life is mellow and slow,
to that bubbling creek that gently flows,
then daydream on some lazy afternoon -
life is peaceful in my hometown.
In that little chapel on top of a hill,
the great wise spirit talk to Him I will;
up in the clouds I'd be near to heaven
in my sleepy hometown.
My soul submitting, believing once again,
Him to this grateful heart I will gladly let in;
there is truth to discover when I am reborn
in the haven of my hometown.
