My Heart Soars
To pick a thought that warms the earth
with fertile seed of human birth;
recognizing mankind's worth
and what it means to be.
To mold the thought into a word
that resonates wherever heard
and circles earth on wing of bird
and stream of mighty sea.
Thought expressed by tolling bell
along with promise casting spell
on face that hides in shallow shell
and shadows of the night.
Radiating like the sun,
the thought brings hope to life undone.
By mortal wound of fatal gun
yet dreaming of the light
I'd do a lot to bring it out,
I'd stand on mountain top and shout.
The thought I always think about,
the one that gives us more,
if only I could dare believe
that in the thought that I conceive
the world would bask in earned reprieve
oh how my heart would soar.
