My heart broke

When the moment ended
I felt so lost, alone
This huge gray cloud descended
And I heard a split beginning

When He said no to my prayer
I felt such sorry, desperation
This brokenness just wasn’t fair
And I could feel the gap growing

When destiny brought such fears
I felt the shadows covering me
There was pain, leaving me in tears
And I knew the opening was bigger

When nothing could explain away
The ancient feeling of dread, the ache
This was a cloud so dark and gray
And my heart mourned, so troubled

When there were no words big enough
To explain away the disillusionment,
I let go of my pride, which wasn’t too tough
But when my heart broke, I knew His mercy…

He led me through the worst pain
So even though I doubted,
He was with me, and I had everything to gain
When He touched me, healed me…

I knew I’d been forgiven, was loved
Beyond the words that told me I was wrong
I could be sure – He is truly my beloved
And, He made my heart whole with His touch

He made my heart whole, when it had been broken
And I’m still singing a song of thanksgiving
Because I know this love, this grace which is spoken
By the spirit who sees Him in every morning sun.

He is the answer to my broken heart
And I’m always praising my Savior
Because of Him, I’m not falling apart
He is the reason I’m forever grateful

Yes, my heart broke and I felt so alone
While He held each piece in His palm,
I knew greater love than I’d ever known
Because of His grace, I know I have hope

Yes, my heart broke and I just can’t say
How many reasons I have to cry,
But, God knows me and come what may,
This love He offers will always make a way

Yes, His precious love will surely make a way
So I bow to the Father, bow my head and pray
When this life ends, my heavy heart will say…
I’m grateful for the One who’s grace will not betray
