My Heart and Soul Cleft

Lonely bench weeps beneath me
   Trees whistle their sorrow
Flowers' petals folded inward
   Will dawn come tomorrow

Birds' songs have been silenced
   Hark -- famished dogs bay
The skies bring forth darkness
   Moon and stars sent away

For you've vanished again
   Not a trace of you left
Your reasons not given
   My heart and soul cleft...

Thick snowflakes are swirling
   Soon icicles form
Love's winter's descended
   Harsh and forlorn
