My Heart and Me

In an attempt to protect what is left of my heart.
I so often am led astray.
Feeling I may fall apart.
Afraid.....
I end up pushing love away.
Our heart is where true happiness lies.
Forever looking back on yesterday to be wise.
Knowing if you seek, you'll never find,
Realizing too late, I am running out of time.
My heart keeps beating,
wondering if I should keep or give it away.
Knowing feelings are fleeting.
It leaves you speechless, with not very much to say.
Full of vulnerabilities.
I don't want no one to see.
Happiness lingers in the midst,
between my heart and me.
