My Guardian Angel

I was falling so quickly, For what seemed like so long. You were there over my right shoulder, To hold me up with words spoken so strong. I was oblivious to my surroundings, In the hospital room that night. I wish I could remember the conversation we had. When death held its grip upon me so tight. The doctors had no answers; I knew mom and dad would believe. When I explained how you said I was going to be alright, and brilliant colors I seen, I know that thank-you could never be enough, There are not enough words I could say. You spread your wings to protect me, You gave me the gift of a new day. So this is an ode to you my guardian angel, One so full of love. I thank you for being the special gift you are, As you were sent from above. You were there at my birth, my fist best friend. You will be there to comfort me in death when my time comes to end.
