My Grandfather

He's a man of great pride & of humor.
He's been there by far when it drove him.
He's lived life with zest & love and regret.
But he's been there by far when it was over.
He's hoped for the best and lived through the worst.
And strived to do it all over again.
For he said in his way's don't ever have leeway,
For it's gone before the rides even over.
