My Gift
There you are
That comforting jingle in my side pocket
Clinking against the memories of the rest
That reassuring weight
That reminds me of the ground I tread, and the ground I have walked before
Every now and then I plunge my hand into my dark pocket hole
And feel you there
Though I never bring you out to look at you as before
I cannot buy time with you now
For that time has been spent
And what a good buy that was
A gift that I recall
Each time my fingers fidget
With the change
You left me
