Notes About The Poem

My Forever Child is a Mother’s love forever, and a giving of thanks, beyond the years that her child or children are held in her arms to the time they are adults, leave home, and living their own lives. It doesn’t matter the life of troubles, pain and tears... because of the bonds of a mother’s love for her children, are never broken, even beyond the grave.

My Forever Child

My Forever Child

Would slay a dragon, with sword and shield,
would stand between it and you,
beautiful love for you my heart doth feel.
like fields of green and skies of blue.

Tender love like fragrant fields of flowers,
Soft love like velvet petals.
Tender dew drops kissing your tears away,
Sweet songs your cries to settle

Would keep you safe from terrors and fright,
save you from every hunting spear,
My forever child, my arms, your home,
will forever yours be here.

Memories and paisley moments of colorful joys,
Like quilts of colors captured and sown.
Love to always be our fortress forever,
Even when you’re grown and gone.
