My Fight

Walk with me,

I struggle, so that you can prosper, I FIGHT so that you may live in peace, I
CRAWL IN THE DIRT, SO THAT WHEN YOU GROW UP!, you can be a BEAST.

I fight,

I jumped over EVERY hurdle! Then went back and knocked em down, I tore
down EVERY WALL IN THE CITY, so you'd be free to walk around.

I fight,

I press on thru all the pain, rain, and strain, because I know that YOUR success
built on the foundation of my struggle, will be my ultimate gain.

So I fight

I fight because for me to give up now thinking um just giving up on me, not
realizing um giving up on you would be the ultimate shame and that's
something I cannot do,

I fight cuz I been fighting since 1985, and at the rate things are going, umma
be fighting til the moment I die, they sed I'd never write OR read, NOW I read
my writings like the M.L KING's speech! They sed I was borderline retarded,
NOW look what they done started, they sed my ADD would hold me back, now
my classmates be like "oh he smart" I'm at the head of the pack! BECAUSE, MY
STRENGTH REACHES THROUGH SPACE AND TIME! TO RELAY MY STRUGGLE
THROUGH RHYTHM AND RHYME, TO EVERY OCCASION THAT CALLS I RISE,
THAT'S WHY I SHINE! I AM, THE MOST UNDERRATED, MOST DEDICATED,
EIGHT AND A HALF YEARS COLLEGE EDUCATED, TO MY SECOND GRADE
TEACHERS LOOK AT ME NOW I MADE IT, THE PROVEN, WHEN LIFE KNOCKS
ME DOWN I SET MY BONES AND KEEP MOVING.

So I fight,

I FIGHT THRU THE DARKEST OF NIGHTS, I FIGHT WHEN I CAN'T SEE THE
LIGHT, I FIGHT WHEN THEY'VE TAKEN MY SIGHT, I FIGHT THROUGH THE
STEREOTYPES, I FIGHT WHEN THERE'S NO HOPE IN SIGHT, I FIGHT CUZ I
KNOW THAT I'M RIGHT.

I FIGHT, I FIGHT SO HELP ME GOD, I, FIGHT.
