My Eyes Beheld a Goddess
My eyes beheld a goddess
The first time I saw you
Descending that grand staircase
Wrapped in a velvet blue
With each step, a raven curl
Unfolded in the sway
How it danced in candlelight
I remember to this day
Your dark eyes caught my gaze
I was stilled yet my mind pleaded
Why would you ever speak to me
My heart beats raced, stampeded
But then, through lovely red stained lips
Your honeyed voice – “ Hello”
Began a lifelong friendship
And forged a sweet Tableau
In honor of by beautiful friend – Diane
