My Everlasting Friend

A friend Everlasting
so very hard to find,
in life, we may have many friends
though Everlasting, is state of mind,

Yes they are there
when a family member dies,
or perhaps to hold your trembling hand
for a moment, when you cry,

One, may have even called you
a month or two ago,
and then say this to his wife
oh, he's just someone that I know,

They may comment on a social page
of what happened, some years past,
when you read, you begin to wonder
is this friendship meant to last,

You,.. yourself may have a spouse
a different kind of friend,
whenever your heart is aching
they are always there to mend,

Now let's talk of Everlasting
there's a special kind of friend,
who was there in the beginning,
and will be there past the end,

In moments, when you are all alone
and no-one else is there,
a solemnness envelopes you
like an answer to a prayer,

Those times you really need a friend
yet no-one is around,
the phone lines have grown quiet
there is, but one friend to be found,

It always seems no matter what
the circumstances that may be,
The Lord, My Savior, Jesus Christ
An Everlasting Friend To Me !

" Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends"
