My Empire of Ashes Who am I without my dark throne? I am the King of this crumbling castle, alone. The ruler of this empire of ashes. A child with an empty box of matches. A King with a madness profound, Everything that I have loved, I’ve burnt to the ground.

Great image to go with your lovely words. "Everything that I have loved, I’ve burnt to the ground." It's a ritual of people who secretly just want love.

Maybe behavior of someone who has never experienced love, hence doesn’t know how to love. Seems like a protective mechanism, or in some case perhaps a behavioral or psychological disorder. IDK?? Out of my area of expertise. Thank you for reading and commenting my dear Tonye, always a pleasure!!

Dear edward, this poem is so good! And what a picture to go with the poem, so fitting. “Crumbling castle” “ empire of ashes” “empty box of matches” and that last line hits so strong! I read hers and commented about my own experience with my close relative. A psychotic episode landed him 12 years in prison and the loss of, well, everything, so I can relate to the message in your poem. I've been helping him build his life back last ten years or so best I can. Meds help some

I did read your heart wrenching response Tom, so sad. He is lucky to have someone like you in his life. No doubt you have been a tremendous resource and pillar of strength, faith and hope for him and the rest of the family! They are in good hands with you Tom.
