My Elusive Muse

I loved her so deeply, I created a muse I'd choose, to ignore that she’s just an illusion She was forever elusive, so hard to hold And she foretold our inevitable end But as time went on, I was freed to see Her beautiful imperfections staring back at me Yet it did not stop me loving the spectre. I'll never forget, the way she smiled Unapologetic, brave, truly wild I loved her then, and I love her now For she was the most beautiful thing I'd found As I sit here drowning in regret, Cursing the day that we met
