My Drowning Heart
The drowning is coming to my heart
And I am at a loss of words this time
My fearful thoughts are a shadow
Of what I dare to express in words
What is that I hear from you
That you must carry my heart away
To the distant gaping hole of distrust
To a place where I am left cold
I can’t hold on forever to this nothingness
The ridicule and false promises to change
There is a trail of lies between us
I have been trapped in the deception of you
My heart shall be better without you
For we were not meant to be in this world
You cannot blind me with your spell any longer
I have learned to love myself and want more
So turn your back and walk into my past
And only then will my heart begin to heal
There will be no tears shed for you
In my smile I am finding peace at last
