My Desire

I have a desire so much keen
growing under my chameleon skin
to find me transformed whenever
I want to become a thing as I desire.

I have a desire so much keen
to become a lonely bird within
build a nest out of the flock there
fly free my own flight when I desire.

I have a desire so much keen
to become a tree ever so green
send my leaves flying everywhere
tell my story to the air when I desire.

I have a desire so much keen
to become a cloud pack not very thin
melt in grief to make my rains shower
flood the rivers to drown when I desire.

I have a desire so much keen
to become on horizon a rainbow lean
display in pride my attire of seven colors
span the misty sky for a while when I desire.

I have a desire so much keen
to become the fingers of a mother caring
stroking the forehead of the child for hours
till both fall asleep and I watch when I desire.

I have a desire so much keen
to become absolutely me deep within
show the world my face genuine and clear
hide the chameleon under the skin when I desire.
