Notes About The Poem

My Deepest Fantasies

There's no hope that the pain in my body and mind will ever go away.
There's no fountain of youth. We all grow old and gray.
So, I wish I was a white knight, slaying dragons, and battling in your name,
as my heart burns ever brightly with love's flame.
I wish I had the dashing looks and smile of someone like Tom Cruise,
and in your fantasy, you'd look my way to choose;
and that my ideals and heroism earned your unfeigned admiration...
and one thing more than any other in creation -
of all the things I dream of, I dream of nothing more than this -
in my deepest fantasies, I'll once receive your kiss.

Ah, Arthur, you spoke the true fantasy which I was afraid to say. Maybe, that's what we all truly want? Well, definitely chocolate glaze and maybe cinnamon rolls too. I could go on. I cop to it - you saw straight through me! Maybe, I have my own donut hole.
