My Dear Soldier

I want to thank you for being courageous
When you signed on the dotted line
For being brave and giving up your freedom
Not knowing it was just a matter of time

For being where it's dangerous
Fighting on the frontline
So you could protect
Other families and mine

Before I go
Just want to say
Whenever you are down
Try to smile
Keep away the frown

Try and stay positive
Know it's hard to do
Soon it will be over
And fighting will be through

You have a guardian angel
Watching from morning til night
There to help you pull through
Letting you know it's going to be alright

As I bow my head to pray
I am sure to mention you
That you'll keep safe
Soon back to your family, too

Just remember you have a friend
That's always thinking of you
Again thank you for what you do
