My Daughter, My Friend

How I miss
  Those day's of old.
When you were small,
  And your hair was gold.

Fragile were your hands,
  When they held mine.
A smile so sweet,
It could stop the hands of time.

I knew this day would come
  A woman you would be.
How my heart breaks,
Each time you have to leave.

A friend to me now,
  What a joy you see
No matter how far away,
My baby, you will always be.
