My Daughter Is Pregnant
(This is a fictional poem)
I married at eighteen and soon became a dad.
My daughter was precious when she was born but lately she's made me mad.
She turned fifteen a few months ago and started seeing the wrong kind of guy.
She saw him behind my back and covered her tracks with lies.
She came to me last week and she was very blunt.
She looked me in the eyes and said that she's pregnant.
I tried to be sympathetic at first.
But she made the situation go from bad to worse.
She asked me to pay for an abortion and I thought that was vile.
There was no way that I was going to pay to abort my own grandchild.
The father was the guy she had courted.
She said it was him who wanted me to pay to have the baby aborted.
He actually had the nerve to come to my door.
He cussed me out and took a swing at me and I knocked him to the floor.
I hit him hard and I was about to have a fit.
I wasn't going to take this punk's ____.
That jerk had wore my patience extremely thin.
Since I broke his nose, I haven't saw him again.
Now my daughter wants to keep the baby and I'm glad.
I'd better get used to being called Granddad.
It's a shame that the baby came from that punk's seed.
I'm going to give my daughter love and all of the help she needs.
