My Daughter

My Daughter
If looking for a love that will last
Don't give your heart away too fast
Before you start to sing that beautiful song
Wait for the right one to come along
My Daughter
You're loves more precious than you know
Don't set yourself up for such a hard blow
Before you start to sing that beautiful song
Wait for the right one to come along
My Daughter
Just when you're not looking you'll see
Come along that special bond and chemistry
Before you start to sing that beautiful song
Wait for the right one to come along
My Daughter
How it pains me to see you hurt
For someone who doesn't see your worth
Before you start to sing that beautiful song
Wait for the right one to come along
My Daughter
I'm so sorry there are no guarantees
Out in the forest amongst all those trees
Before you start to sing that beautiful song
Wait for the right one to come along
My Daughter
Stay strong and let yourself just be free
What gifts you have for the world to see
Before you start to sing that beautiful song
Wait for the right one to come along
My Daughter
When your're hurting and all seems so black
All along I'm behind you and will have your back
But before you start to sing that beautiful song
Wait for the right one to come along

Ah what can i say, first i was surprise to hear from you so soon i just made her a card and write those lovely words to her. She is going to show all her freinds. yes it's good your poem, the best advice. When we as parents show our kids love, and affection, not that they won't hurt but they would get over it soon as they are aware they have the love of their mom and dad. lovely i will read some more

As mother of a daughter that I also adore....this poem speaks to me. Lovely writing ...your love shines through! Nothing more wonderful than a mother's love, and protection! ~ Carrie

Your love for your daughter shines in this poem, Scarlett. In fact, it reminds me of the words of wisdom my own mother imparted to me at an early age. Lots of good advice for young women here. You must be a terrific mother! Love, Carolyn

The repeating of the lines could come into the form of Villanelle or Triolet or Pantoume. I love this and it would be great to be read in all Junior High and High Schools. Sara
