My Companion and Best Friend That Never Complains
I have a best friend I always go to see
He has been a loving life-long companion to me
Always loving me anyway I look
I don't have to be glamorous like some in fashion books
He treats me as an equal, never under-rates
Even when I make the most stupid of mistakes
We do things together and learn from each other
He is my confidante, my teacher and my lover
He and I are best friends fortunate to meet
This union we have makes life together sweet
Until age caught up with us, this was a bitter pill
My dearest best friend became very, very ill
I had to put him into a strange place
As he no longer recognised my face
I was devastated, I could not give the special care
That he would receive in a nursing home, so I put him there
I see him every day and sit holding his hand
And talk to him as we always did
Hoping he can understand the never-ending love we share
Will always remain
As I look lovingly at my companion, who never complains
My Best Friend and companion That Never Complains
