My Childhood Memories
When most adults have fond childhood memories
Filled with days of sunshine, most happiest of times
I am left with childhood memories just the opposite
My childhood memories haunt me even still this day
Memories of dark, cold and stinging bitterness
Days of pain and of shame and wondering what I'd done
They all come flooding back even now years later
Remembering back when my innocence was lost
Feeling lost and confused, torn and abused
My childhood memories aren't happy ones
Having to endure what no child should
Trying to survive in a world that seemed so cold
Feelings of anguish, hurt and not understanding
Wondering why and how a man I loved as my dad could do that
Being sexually abused makes up my childhood memories
