Notes About The Poem

My Blue Cheese Is

My Blue Cheese Is...

A favored dish on most menus
and often more expensive too;
this treat for some still continues
to be for me a huge taboo.

Selective eater, I am not...
I like all veggies and most meats
presented as both cold and hot...
but NO to creepy-crawler treats!

No, thanks...to 'beetles' of the sea...
crustaceans with long antennae!
No Lobster tails and claws for me...
to eating bugs I won't comply!

NOTE:
"The thick slabs of meat you get off a good-sized lobster are a little hard to conceptualize as insect meat, I’ll grant you, but according to the most modern data it really is accurate to think of lobsters as ocean-bound beetles..." I agree whole heartedly. Though if we ate beetles and insects, we would save on methane gas and have a sustainable way to feed the 'masses'...

I think your poem is excellent, Sandra... right up to the word 'comply' - it struck me as not the best choice... But congrats on a very witty poem.

I refuse to read the concluding paragraph lest it tarnish my love of shellfish, and I mean LOVE. I even like snails, but, insects - yuck, an entirely different matter to my palate. Good poem, Sandra - I truly enjoyed it. CayCay

I do not like them either, Sandra. And shrimp. UGGG. I guess I can stand lobster more than shrimp. It also depends a lot on how it's prepared. good entry.
