My Birthday

My birthday will always will always hold special thoughts for me today
My dad was also born eighty-six years later he passed away on the same day
As you can tell my memories will always be bitter and sweet
My wife will surprise me with dinner out, which is always such a treat
Millions of people will share this day with their birthdays throughout the planet
I hope all their wishes when they blow out their candles will be granted
What do I want for my birthday is that love will prevail throughout our land
Or maybe the sun will come out so I can stroll on the beach with its nice warm sand
We can only celebrate this special day we entered this world once a year
There is no doubt I look a little older as I look into the mirror
I am truly blessed that another birthday has come my way
How many I have left no one can say for sure, all I know is I am going to enjoy this special day
