My Big Moment

Someday soon I am going to be in a big parade I’m not going to be the Grand Marshall, of course, I would ride a motor scooter if I were not afraid. I’ve given thought to a Shriner’s tiny car charade Actually, I’d prefer a fancy-clad palomino horse Someday soon I am going to be in a big parade! My best friends have suggested I visit an arcade Indulge my imagination without possible remorse I would ride a motor scooter if I were not afraid. At my age my children say I should be more staid Foregoing my grand illusions, I consider the source; Someday soon, I am going to be in a big parade. I promise you, I’ll be sporting my finest brocade As I’ve never been known to be tawdry or coarse I would ride a motor scooter if I were not afraid. I’ll be tricked out with a necklace made of jade, And I’ll be tossing candy and cheering until hoarse Someday soon I am going to be in a big parade I would ride a motor scooter if I were not afraid!

this is a really adorable one, Milton. So charming. I think I will read one more of the villanelles you showed us in your contest page. You are GREAT with these.

It is one of my favorite poetry forms. And, for some unknown reason, they seem to come easily to me. You'll find them sprinkled throughout my poetry list. Good luck in my contest. I'm going to assume that you are going to write one [just] for me! (chuckling)

I love parades! Being in one is even better than watching. Hope you enjoy your big moment. :)

I've only been in one parade in my life. I had a brand new Chevrolet Impala and the parade people asked if I would drive in it. It was fun, but certainly not the most memorable thing I've ever done. Thanks, Evelyn.

How about a four-wheeled motor scooter?!

Hmmm...I don't know. Are you talking about a dune buggy? I'm not sure they allow them in parades. Maybe. Ah, a golf cart.

And why not, I think you'd make a fine Grand Marshal, think big. Tom

Tom, have you ever watched a parade, especially as a child, and wished you were in it instead of a spectator?

Milt, I don't see you as a motor scooter kind of guy. Ride the horse with two saddle bags filled with candy hanging from the pommel. If you want a big moment, go for it!

That's one fine horse you're referring to Milton, I remember him well.

Ha! Ha! Oh, I love to ride horses. I just don't know anyone who has a palomino, and that's my favorite for a parade. I have loved them since the days of Roy Rogers and Trigger, way before your time!
