My Best Friend

I lie here in bed every night thinking of you, Wondering if we’ll ever be together again. I toss and I turn, not knowing what to do, Hoping you think of me every now and then. It’s been so long since you were near. I miss the times we spent in the moonlight. And all of the memories that I hold so dear, Of the way we cuddled all through the night. You kept me safe from my fear of the dark. While under the covers, I was never scared. You were my comfort, my light, and my spark. I never had to worry because you always cared. When I left every day, you would never cry. I could always count on you to be so strong. And when I came home, you wouldn’t even pry. You just seemed to know when something was wrong. You were my best friend while I was young. I shared my life with you day after day. Of all the stuffed toys that you were among, You were my favorite and, in my heart, you’ll always stay.
