My Best Friend

Hope and I are best friends you see
We dream the same things, her and me.
From the first time I saw her I always knew
We would be best friends, stuck together like glue.

Hope has been with me since I can remember
She was there with me that cold and awful day in September
Where time stopped and the angels cried
Hope was there with her arms open wide.

As I grow older I often wonder
If Hope will stay with me until beyond the yonder
Or at least until my dreams have passed and I fall like dust
Carrying me farther, farther than she must.

Hope and I are best friends you see
Until always, until the end of me.
