My Beloved, You I Lost

The clock of civilization paused for a moment, The graceful dawn lost its glow, Moon and stars were not kindled with light, It was deep dark, the billowy storm roared In the romping rivalry, In such lost Eden I fumbled around To revive our forgotten dream That we dreamed together when the virgin night Brought down the pouring all over us! The half sleepy earth woke me up. I scoured you From valley to valley of an ancient east, I read many hieroglyphs lest you left some Hints for me therein to trace you back, But only wailing of wind reverberated around me— My beloved, you I lost.
