My Ain'T

Funny how our close connection
Snapped, as your status changed
Little orphan Annie had to go
As your entourage began to arrange
...your associates

It was so easy for you to ask
A friend like me to serve your mission
A consolation prize at the end
For spending limited resources on your vision
...to fix the unacceptable

How can you show up again
In a place where the orphans gain a home
No amount of degrees or wisdom
Can take away the fact of alone
...in the quagmire of abuse

So many hours of shared views
I was sure we had like-minded hearts
But it is so obvious you moved past
All the years of being apart
...without initiative for contact

Now that I'm out and running the rainbow
I can see the underside of the grid
You are my ain't of what LOVE is
Part of all the pain that had to rid
...lies and lack

To that, I say Thanks!
