My Abiding Memory

My granny said to me, "It's not good to talk about the past"
You must always live in the present for only it will last"
Apparently I was lost not knowing what she meant
But as years passed her words seemed heaven sent
I then began to wade deep into the middle of 2015
Daddy died, mom followed, my life a crying scene
I'm uncertain about the months I really cannot recall
Nothing seemed real nor made any sense at all!
God knows I prayed to be relieved of earthly pain
Momentarily I could smile until it all came back again
Emotions were like bombs I never knew from day to day
Memories of the past exploded until I heard granny say
Omit all the past be happy for as long as you are here
Remember life is short, cast aside your Yesteryear
Youth seems to travel back whenever granny's near!
