Mute

I’m sorry for using the L word,
And not saying it to you.
I’ve said it twice of late you see,
And both times far too soon.

The truth is I have wanted to,
And many times I’ve tried.
But I’d hate to face rejection,
A ‘no’ etched in your eyes.

But still, I plan to tell you straight,
And tear the veil away.
A word that has hidden far too long,
I’m no longer scared to say.

Why is it we find it so hard to utter the words our hearts are dying to say? This is a reticence most of us have experienced, one time or another. Smooth cadence and rhyming... tentative, and finally freely expressed. Keith
