Must We Dance

Why do we do this dance we do You hurt me and I hurt you Yet neither of us will let go What are we holding on to A love so strong that the pain is so deep A pain that rocks your soul beyond belief How did our love turn into a weapon A weapon used to hold each other hostage Both of us so consumed by our anger, fears, and pride unable to learn our lesson When did our daily attempts to prove our love become low blows and destructive desperate attempts to share the hurt Love sick turned to grief stricken Will we ever be able to sweep away all the dirt Will forgiveness be enough to clear the slate Have we gone to far Is it to late
