Music Fills the Air

At any time that rain comes pouring down and thunderbolts invade the rumbling sky I think of Bittner, Hoffman, Brahms or Strauss. Their music comes to mind to satisfy the strong emotions where my soul could drown. Then when the storm recedes, losing its flair, dark clouds disperse and sunshine flirts with blue. Liszt, Grieg, Beethoven intense passion rouse, combine to bid the vanquished foe adieu: quiescence reigns as music fills the air. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This poem is written in (my) SUPLICA form. It consists of 2 stanzas. Both stanzas have 5 lines, each 10 syllables long. (Iambic Pentameter is recommended) The rhyme scheme is the following: a - b - C - b - a d - e - C - e - d

A great tribute, Paul. I've only heard of a couple of these composers, but I'm sure they're all great :)

A very interesting poem you have here Paul and another strong contest entry. My favorite line is "the strong emotions where my soul could drown." The inclusion of some classical composers is a nice touch. MC

Yes, you are right, Andrea;) I am planning on changing the ending of the 3rd lines of both stanzas in order to have them rhyming; thus the total rhyme scheme will be: abcba ~ deced . Regards // paul

Nicely penned poem Paul. I like the contrast between thunder and blue skies as opposites may be differrent but can be just as nice in their own way to me too.

Such a beautiful poem - a adore a heavy storm and I relate it to Phantom of the Opera - I also wait for it to abait as more often than not a rainbow appears as shows off it brilliant colours and disappears, all the plants leaves are still glistening from rain drops - yes our Maker did make all this bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small! I enjoyed your poem enormously - well penned dear Paul, Hugs and war wishes, Jennifer.

Beautiful, Paul. It engulfed me as I actually love a good storm and the composers and their wonderful music you mentioned certainly fit perfectly with the storm and the "quiescence" afterwards. I personally especially like Strauss, Brahms, Beethoven, and Liszt.
