Mum's Fortitude

Heroes aren't only those who die for a right cause
or for others; not as recognized as themselves,
some seem much stronger than they, who have many friends,
having a certain fortitude to withstand pain, loneliness or loss.

My realization came too late: mum was one of them struggling with life,
holding out her feeble hands to pour out more love, and despite
her acute suffering, she wouldn't stop giving or worrying for us...
her life was almost done and her final reward was certainly Paradise.

If Man was made in God's likeness in heart and mind, surely
I was made in her image: very mellow and refined;
I wouldn't be who I am today...thinking quickly and act deligently,
if she hadn't tought me how friendship and honesty should be utilized!

No, my mom didn't stress on pride, wealth and fame;
to her these things were a destructive fool's game...
she put her emphasis on humbleness, kindness and love,
and her fortitude is the very strength I lean on!
